9.00-12.30Pre-congress course: TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR NECROTIC IMMATURE PERMANENT TEETH. APICAL BARRIERS WITH DIFFERENT MATERIALS

Hands-on Workshop LED By António Ginjeira

 Introduction: With the development of calcium-silicate cements such as MTA and Biodentine, attention has been directed to improving the efficiency of traditionally prolonged treatment with calcium hydroxide. This course will discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of new techniques. Practical interactive instruction will be given on placement of an apical barrier.

HANDS-ON WORKSHOP LED by Kerstin Galler & Matthias Widbiller (sponsored by septodont)

 Introduction: This interactive pre-congress workshop will discuss different aspects of the clinical procedure of revitalization. The  hands-on course will provide the procedural details of the clinical protocol, discuss outcome and potential pitfalls, while understand biological, physiological, biomaterial and pathological reactions.

Aims: After this workshop, clinicians should know the procedure, be able to decide whether it is indicated, perform it and know potential outcomes.

Objectives:
– To review the clinical protocol including indication, procedure and follow-up

– To discuss outcome, be aware of pitfalls

– To increase the understanding of tissue responses

– To train the procedural steps on a simulation model

14.00-17.00Pre-congress course: A Team Approach to Caring for Patients with Dental Trauma

Interactive LECTURE/APP BASED Workshop LED BY fadi jarad and Sondos Albadri

Introduction: This course will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of Paediatric Dentistry and Endodontics. The focus of the course will be on the transitional care and management of children with complex dental trauma into adulthood. The content will cover a multidisciplinary team approach to short and long term sequela including surgical and non-surgical interventions.

This will be an interactive session where the attendees will have the opportunity to participate and treatment plan complex cases of different age groups. During the session, we will tell life stories of patients that have had many appointments, disappointments, stress and big smiles!

Aims: The aim of this course is to discuss the sequelae & management of dento-alveolar trauma in children and adults.

Objectives: By the end of the course attendee will be able to:

  • Describe sequelae of dento-alveolar trauma from children to adults.
  • Discuss the role of multi-disciplinary team and transitional service in managing complex dental trauma.
  • Outline the factors that may influence decision making during the patient journey.
  • Recall the rehabilitation options for patients with complex dental trauma.

Educators Forum: A Dental Trauma Curriculum that responds to patient needs

Introduction: Despite outstanding efforts from many researchers and clinicians in developing the IADT Guidelines, the Dental Trauma Guide and other resources for public education, a global competency-based curriculum is still lacking. This 90 minute session will discuss educational possibilities that will support a patient-centered approach for management of trauma by general dentists and specialists. The forum will encourage questions and discussion as well as sharing of  experiences from educational institutions across the world.
