ABSTRACT SUBMISSION PROCESS FOR POSTERS

The 21st World Congress on Dental Traumatology will focus on various aspects of dental and oral trauma. Abstracts of posters must be submitted in advance for scrutiny by the Scientific Programme Committee to ensure they are suitable for presentation.

Abstracts should be directly related to dental trauma including prevention, prevalence, management, treatment and follow-up, as well as the educational elements of dental traumatology provided by dental schools and in continuing dental education programmes/courses.

Submission Process Rules:

  • Abstract submissions will be accepted from 1st June 2021 to midnight (GMT) on 16th January 2022.
  • All submissions must in the English language.
  • Authors are responsible for the correct spelling (use of symbols etc.) of the names and institutions of the authors and the accuracy of all abstract information and data.
  • The abstract must include appropriate credit to all contributing authors and their associated institutions.
  • All co-authors must agree to a statement that the abstract can be submitted for presentation.
  • Authors may co-author multiple submissions but present only ONE poster. The presenter must be identified at the time of submission.
  • The presenter must be registered for the conference for final acceptance of the abstract.

General Information:

There will be three types of posters:

  • Original scientific research
  • Educational research
  • Clinical

There will be a new oral presentation opportunity:

  • ‘Jens Andreasen and me – clinical lessons learned from the master’

Each category of presentation and the associated abstract submission has specific and unique requirements, so please read the instructions carefully before submission. For example, abstracts for posters that cover Clinical Research (trials, outcome studies) should be submitted to the Original Scientific poster section and NOT to the Clinical poster section. The Clinical poster section is about case reports and clinical techniques. Studies reporting Educational research or innovation should specify this in their submission.

  • Changes cannot be made after the abstract (scientific research, educational research or clinical) has been submitted. Revisions can only occur when the abstract or clinical poster has been accepted and during the final editing phase.
  • Decisions on acceptance or rejection of submissions will be available after the 17th January 2022. Submitters will be notified by email as soon as practical after a decision has been made. Presentation details, such as, location, day, time and judging will also be available once these have been decided.
  • All abstract submissions will be peer-reviewed by the Scientific Programme Committee. Note: submissions will not be edited by the Committee.
  • Due to limited space in the scientific programme there is not an option for oral presentation. All presentations will be in poster format, except for a very limited number of presentations chosen for oral presentation by the scientific committee.
  • The poster sessions will be judged during specified times during which the presenter should be at their poster.
  • Abstracts will be available online.
  • Timetables for each poster session will be provided in advance of the congress for – Original Scientific Posters, Educational Posters and Clinical Posters.

Prizes:

  • There will be prizes awarded for the best posters in the three categories (original scientific, educational, clinical) as well as prizes for those presented orally.
  • Prizes will be awarded at the closing ceremony of the congress.
  • A monetary prize will be awarded for 1st prize in each of the 4 categories.
  • 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be given a certificate in each category.
